The exposure is almost always 30 seconds at f3.5 to 5.6, depending on ambient light. For this photo of the Golden Gate Bridge, I used my Canon 100-400m (@400mm) and shot a roll of film just after sunset. The blue ambient light in the sky provides a moody look, but the hard part was getting good, clean, traffic flow. There's no planning for it; it's just a matter of luck if you get it right.
