Yo! stands for Youth Opportunity!, one of the programs managed by the
Private Industry Council (PIC) of San Francisco. The PIC is a nonprofit
corporation whose mission is to provide job training and placement services
for disadvantaged individuals that meet certain criteria. The Yo! subprogram
is specifically for youth between the ages of 14 and 21, who reside in
low-income districts within San Francisco, and are public assistance
recipients. Tax credits and other financial incentives are
available to potential employers that hire Yo! participants,
resulting in a mutual benefit to all, and by extension, society as
a whole. You can learn more about Yo! through the PIC's web site at
www.picsf.org.
The photographs on this page and its sub-galleries highlight the
people and activities that make the program the success that it is.
