The Folsom Street Fair is a long, time-tested tradition in San Francisco,
where "colorful" people (the locals) get together and have fun.
Usually, people dress up in extremely provacative clothing (sometimes
only in one's birthday suit), and "socialize" with one another.
While this may all seem well and good (and to those of us who live in
the area, it is well and good), those from other parts of the
country (or the world) must keep in mind that the residents of San Francisco
accept and even embrace (literally) those who may be regarded as "different"
from the social, cultural and moral norms of society. Without this recognition,
one could potentially be very offended by the images
shown in these pages. Accordingly, you may wish to turn away if
you are offended by scenes of gay people, transexuals, transvestites,
oddly dressed people, sado-massochistic behavior (such as whipping), and
those with a very bad fashion sense!
Of course, chances are that my warnings have probably enticed you to
look at these pages anyway, which will prompt you to mail me, telling me
how offended you were. All this, despite my warnings not to look. Ah, but
we're a funny species, aren't we? We are fascinated by what's different,
unusual, and even offensive or freightening.
I guess that's why I like to take pictures.
